One minute you’re OK you’ve got a handle on your symptoms and then my goodness you don’t.
Sometimes you know it because they’re difficult to miss. It’s those symptoms that seem to burst out of you like shouting, bursting into tears (repeatedly) or threatening your colleague.
But there are also symptoms that arrive by stealth, incrementally building until you can’t ignore them anymore including fatigue, insomnia and loss of memory.
Whichever combination of symptoms you are experiencing there will be a moment when you or someone around you (partner, friend, colleague) will say, that it’s got out of hand, and you need to get help.
This moment feels awful, powerless and humiliating.
But…
There is in all of us a dawning realisation, often suppressed by fear that something is different, that we aren’t feeling right or that our behaviour is unusual or odd. That there is a loss of control which is scary.
I spent four years struggling to understand. I get it.
The power and opportunity to regain control however is in understanding, knowledge and ultimately action.
There is so much we can do for ourselves, but it takes that moment of personal honesty and recognition.
If you are starting to notice the difference, starting to struggle or alternatively hear yourself say things like “I’m too young for menopause” or “it can’t be, I’m not having hot flushes” it’s probably time to get support.
Whether it’s medical, natural or coaching, do it for yourself.
If you want to talk things through, then get in touch. If you would like me to point you in the direction of others to help you, happy to do that too.
Don’t spend months or years fighting it, you don’t need to. Be proactive.
